PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE / Thomas E. Dale Jr.

February / March 2007

Annual Meeting rescheduled for March 25

We have rescheduled our annual membership meeting to March 25 at the Holiday Inn Eisenhower Metro Center (see notice here). I encourage all bowlers from the association to attend and hope that all of our leagues send at least one representative to this important meeting. Attendance is open to anyone holding a local membership card.

The main purpose of the annual meeting is to elect officers and directors for the following season, elect delegates to state meetings and the national USBC Convention, and vote on any proposed rule and bylaw changes for our local association.

At our youth representation meeting on January 14, Directors Diane Frelke, Rick Ketchie, and Shirley King were reelected to new two-year terms, while Jim Christie was elected to replace Fred Trace, who chose not to seek reelection. In addition, Delbert Nusbaum Jr. was appointed to complete the unexpired term of Hank Osborne, who resigned from the board for personal reasons.

Our Youth Scratch Invitational Tournament was completed earlier this month. There was some outstanding bowling, and $5,500 in scholarship funds was awarded during this tournament.

The Youth Championship Tournament is being held this month at Bowl America Woodbridge.

Our Women’s Championship Tournament will be held in March at Bowl America Falls Church, and our Open Championship Tournament will be held in April at AMF Alexandria and AMF Annandale. Entry forms are available on this site and at your bowling center.

Our association recently lost one of its directors, Ronald Dailey Sr., to cancer. Ron was a valuable member of our new board as well as a past president of NCABA and a member of the Hall of Fame. He will be deeply missed by all of us.

In closing, I hope your 2006-07 season has been productive and rewarding so far, and I hope to see you at one of our events this season.
