Ron Dailey began his involvement in league bowling in the late 1960s when he was instrumental in organizing a league comprised of members of several local churches. He served as vice president of the league for several years and later as treasurer.In the early 1970s, Ron helped reorganize a men's league at Ten Pin Coliseum (now AMF Alexandria), which had diminished from 24 teams to 10. The rebuilt 24-team league catered to low-average and new bowlers.
Ron became an NCABA director in 1979. He served Bowl America Shirley and Annandale Bowling Center, representing the association by presenting pins, watches, rings, plaques, etc. He has been an ABC delegate and ABC tournament participant for 17 consecutive years.
In 1987, Ron was elected fifth vice president and became NCABA president in 1992-93, after which he was voted a life membership. He has served on various NCABA committees—Hall of Fame, Tournament Site Selection, YABA, Lane Directors, Yearbook, Suspension, Virginia State, and BVL. He was an NCABA tournament official from 1980 to 1995.
He was elected to the Vir-Mar District YABA board as a director in 1980 and helped run the Junior Invitational tournament for the next 12 years.
As an added contribution, Ron voluntarily delivered BOWL Magazine to all Virginia bowling centers for approximately 20 years.
Over the years, Ron Dailey has exhibited a love for the game of bowling and has expressed this in the time spent promoting the game and by his service to the bowlers. He is a welcome addition to the NCABA Hall of Fame.
