"PAT" MALONE

"Pat" Malone, as he is known to his many bowling friends in the Nation's Capital Area, came to Washington, D.C. in 1937 where he worked as a wood, metal and wire lather until his retirement in 1978.

Pat started his long bowling career in various leagues at the former Lucky Strike and Arcadia Lanes. During his long time activities and association with tenpin bowling, Mr. Malone has served on several committees for the Washington City Tenpin Bowling Association. He served as a delegate to the ABC Conventions at Rochester, Long Beach and Miami. He has bowled in each Association Championship Tournament, has won the doubles event with partner Erv Raines, and has bowled in 24 American Bowling Congress Tournaments. Pat is counting on participating in the ABC Tournament in Baltimore next year for his 25-year plaque.

Pat had been a member of the 700 Club for several years and held high average (192) in the Double A Virginia Traveling League. His team won the Pentagon City Classic League Championship (1961-62) and has been a member of two first place teams in the Greater Washington Majors. He also helped his team achieve a pinfall of 4432 in the Lebanon Dutchman Tourney to establish a new record in that longstanding tournament.

With all of the accomplishments outlined above, Pat still found time and energy to support the various bowling activities throughout his lifetime of bowling. These activities include a three-year tenure as President of the All-American League at Pentagon City.

Pat's longtime dedication to the game of tenpins, and his many outstanding accomplishments on the lanes has earned for him an induction into the Nation's Capital Area Bowling Association HALL OF FAME.
