Born in Rochester, New York 75 years ago, Lou Colbert has been active in the bowling game for more than 48 years. He has been bowling and promoting the game in the Washington area since 1931 when he moved here to start a business he still owns and operates. When the Washington City Tenpin Bowling Association was formed, Lou was a loyal and active supporter in all of the Association's activities. He still is an active supporter, and participates in all the events conducted by the Association, many times bringing other bowlers with him.Back to Hall of FameAn avid bowler, Lou has traveled to all parts of the country to participate in regional and national tournaments. In 1937 he won a National title for a four game series of 934 in Utica, New York. It was there that he got the name of "Utica Kid" which has stayed with him throughout the years. He entered his first ABC Tournament 46 years ago in Buffalo and has attended over 25 National Tournaments. In 1969 he was honored at the ABC Tournament for 25 years of participation. His best effort was a 656 series rolled in 1940 in Detroit.
Lou is a Charter Member of the local "700" Club and at one time he rolled four 700 series in one week.
Lou is still the Secretary of the Astronauts League and is responsible for entering the entire league in the City Tournament.
Washington's "Grand Old Man" has devoted the major part of his life to the game of bowling and as a result has been honored by his election to the Hall of Fame.
