PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE / Gene O. Mays

May / June 2014

Help is available for end-of-season issues

Once again, the bowling season has come to an end for nearly all leagues, and some of us will continue to bowl in a summer league or two. All league secretaries should make sure the final averages are sent to the office expeditiously upon completion of the season.

For leagues that are still rolling, it is past time for league officers to ensure the finances are correct and all prize funds are in place as stated in my March message. It is the president’s responsibility to make sure the payoff process runs smoothly and without controversy. You are advised to contact your lane director or the association office for any additional information about these matters.

I want to thank all of you who took part in our Annual Meeting held at Bowl America Gaithersburg, which was very successful. Meanwhile, our 2014 Hall of Fame Induction Celebration is scheduled for October 4, and details about this exciting event will follow.

I have visited several of the leagues this season, talked with a good number of bowlers, and they seem to be satisfied with the way their leagues currently function. I hope we can carry this momentum into the 2014-2015 season.

Thanks for an amazing season thus far, and congratulations to all of our youth and adult members who participated in our association-sponsored competitions, a few of whom emerged victorious and others who appeared on the prize list.

Good luck and good bowling.
