PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE / Robert Ashley III

April/May 2013

Silver linings in the clouds of change

Most leagues are wrapping up in the coming weeks. It’s never too late to start planning for next season, so be sure to speak out at your end-of-season payout meetings.

Since the Annual Meeting, some changes were announced at the national level. There have been mixed reactions to them and, while I understand the reasons, nothing we do or say is going to change what is happening. We need to focus on how these changes can benefit us.

I’ve been a secretary for over 20 years, and each league has shown a different reaction to the special achievement awards. By vesting the control of these with the local association, we have the opportunity to establish an awards and/or recognition program that better meets what you would like to see.

Please take some time to express your thoughts. We may not be able to please everyone, but if a common thread emerges from your comments, it can help guide us in preparing a program.

Our annual Open Championship Tournament recently concluded. I had the pleasure of working at the team house and saw a new women’s series record posted, smashing the previous record by 51 pins. If you did not participate, I hope you give thought to being part of next year’s event.

If you have any questions or comments, I can be reached via eMail at president@ncausbca.org

The summer league season is upon us. May you strike out often and be spared of any splits.
