PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE / Thomas E. Dale Jr.

September / October 2007

A new season

Welcome, bowlers, to the 2007-08 season.

Thanks go out to all of you for your $21,000 contribution to the Bowlers to Veterans Link (BVL) this past season. NCAUSBCA received a recognition award at the United States Bowling Congress Convention in March for the most funds contributed by a local association to the national office for the previous season. We will hold this season’s BVL Kickoff November 3 at the National Naval Medical Center Lanes in Bethesda. We bowl for pledges and host veterans from the Armed Forces Retirement Home, Charlotte Hall, Blinded Veterans of America, and other locations.

All league secretaries are reminded of their responsibility to timely submit league certifications with membership applications within 30 days of the start of the league and award requests within 20 days of the date bowled. Without this, our local bowlers do not get the proper recognition and protection their membership entitles them to receive. Each league president is responsible for verifying the league account monthly and appointing a prize committee to ensure the league adopts a prize list by the fifth week of the season. If all of these are followed, the season should be a more rewarding experience for all participants.

I would like to invite all NCAUSBCA members to the Hall of Fame Induction Dinner on October 20 at La Fontaine Bleu in Lanham, Md., where Tiffany Bell, Fred Trace, and Richard Wolfe will be inducted into the NCAUSBCA Hall of Fame.

We will have our annual membership meeting on March 31. I encourage all bowlers from the association to attend and hope that all of our leagues send at least one representative to this important meeting. Attendance is open to anyone holding a local membership card.

The main purpose of the annual meeting is to elect officers and directors for the following season, elect delegates to state meetings and the USBC Convention, and vote on any proposed rule and bylaw changes for our local association. We will notify all leagues and post a notice on this site once the meeting location is finalized. For the latest events within NCAUSBCA, visit here regularly, and please don’t hesitate to contact me.

Once again, welcome to all, and I hope your 2007-08 season is a rewarding experience.
