PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE / Thomas E. Dale Jr.

Summer 2007

A difficult first season

Another season has come to a close. Final averages should have been submitted by now so that they will appear in the Annual Average Book and on this Web site.

This has been a difficult first season with our newly merged association, the Nation’s Capital Area USBC Association. As many of you are aware, the merger combined the Vir-Mar District Youth, Washington, D.C. Area Women’s, and Nation’s Capital Area associations into a single membership organization.

The initial merging of the three databases caused delays in processing league certification applications, and as a result, membership cards were not mailed out in a timely manner until we were able to catch up. Also, the filling of awards was delayed in a similar manner. Fortunately, we were able to catch up before the end of the season. We will implement our new local awards program for the 2007-2008 season.

For those of you that bowled in our tournaments this season, thank you for your continued support. We had some problems with the tournament software and, as a result, were delayed in finalizing our Women’s Championship Tournament. We have mailed out the prize checks for that event and the Open Championship Tournament, and the scholarship funds for the Youth Championship Tournament are posted in the SMART (Scholarship Management and Accounting Reports for Tenpins) program.

For the latest events within NCAUSBCA, visit our Web site regularly, and please don’t hesitate to contact me.

In closing, I hope your 2006-07 season was productive and rewarding. Thank you for all of your support this first season of our new organization, and we hope to see you back for the new season.
