PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE / Kirk S. Williams

Summer 2006

Board members smooth merger process

It has been a great pleasure to serve the members of the association as your president this season. The year was very difficult with the merger of the three local associations, but as always, the members of the board came through, and this made a difficult task easy.

I particularly would like to thank the office staff that was essential in the running of the association.

It’s time for your league secretary to send in the final averages of your league so that the information can be included in the Annual Average Book. Secretaries: Please put the information in the format we ask for, and make sure to avoid nicknames for bowlers you add to the pre-printed average sheet.

We had a successful Championship Tournament, with a number of big games and series. I hope that everyone who participated had a good time. We currently are in the midst of the Virginia State Tournament that will end June 18.

Several board members attended the first United States Bowling Congress Convention held April 19-22 in Orlando, Fla., where we learned about a new dues structure for next season. While there, I had the pleasure of accepting the award for NCABA having the most BVL donations by a local association. We need to get going with our contributions if we want to beat the Dallas association and be “number one” again this season.

On June 1, our association began operations as the Nation’s Capital Area USBC Association. I will serve the new association as a director, and as part of the new “NCAUSBCA” board, I will do my best to see that the local and state associations continue to run smoothly.
