PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE / Kirk S. Williams

April / May 2006

League presidents must continue
to check the books

I hope your leagues are all doing well. By now, you should have had an audit to make sure your league funds are correct. If not, please do so immediately so that you won’t have a problem paying off at the end of the year. Remember, league presidents: This is part of your responsibility!

On February 26, we held the meeting that established the new single membership organization—the “Nation’s Capital Area USBC Association.” A list of the new officers and directors appears here. The new organization officially begins June 1, but through the transition period that continues until the conclusion of the 2005-2006 season on July 31, NCABA will still fill award requests and perform its regular season-ending services such as the collection of final averages and the production of the average book.

The 61st annual NCABA Championship Tournament is under way at the Bowl America Bull Run and Dranesville centers until April 9, after which several association officials will attend the inaugural United States Bowling Congress Annual Meeting in Orlando, Fla., April 19-22. One week later, the 54th annual Virginia State USBC Bowling Association Tournament begins at Bowl America Chantilly and Bowl America Manassas and runs through June 18. As you can see, we will be busy until the end.

I hope to see you at one of the tournaments.
