PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE / Kirk S. Williams

February/March 2006

Turnout essential at membership meeting

Well, hello again. Hope you did not get ashes and switches for Christmas and that your New Year’s resolution comes through for you.

The holidays did not give the association’s transition committees a break; they were working hard to meet the June 1 date for the start of the new USBC local association.

To get the new organization off to a good start, there will be a meeting on February 26, 2006 at the Holiday Inn Eisenhower Metro Center located at Eisenhower Avenue and Stovall Street in Alexandria. It is essential that we get a good turnout because this meeting will determine the direction the new association will take. If you fail to come out, you will have no reason to gripe.

Some of the areas to be covered include the new board of directors, new bylaws, and the state with which the association should affiliate—Maryland or Virginia. Anyone interested in being a director or the association manager can click here for an application. Remember, this is your association.

Even with all of this going on, your association this year will host the Virginia State Tournament in addition to the NCABA Championship Tournament. The NCABA Championship Tournament will be held at Bowl America Bull Run and Bowl America Dranesville. It starts March 25 and ends April 9. The closing date for entries is March 10.

The Virginia State Tournament will run from April 29 to June 18 at Bowl America Manassas and Bowl America Chantilly. Hope you get your entries in on time to make these events a great success.

In closing, keep in mind that we are still in the middle of our BVL drive. Thank you in advance for your participation in all the events.
