PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE / Bill Grover

December 2005 / January 2006

League presidents must check the funds monthly

I hope your leagues are proceeding without any trouble. We are coming up on mid-season, and it’s important that the president checks the league’s funds each month to make sure that everything is going the way it should.

As you may know, we were number one again for BVL collections in 2004-2005. We have already started to collect for 2005-2006, and we hope to again prevail as number one.

We are still looking to make a decision on which state organization to join—Maryland or Virginia. This is only one of the areas we have to cover in the merger process.

Thus far, all the membership application have been put into the computer system and transmitted to headquarters, and the honor awards are all up-to-date.

Remember that the 2006 Virginia State Tournament will be held at Bowl America Chantilly (team) and Bowl America Manassas (singles & doubles), and it will take place right after the NCABA Championship Tournament.

The 2006 United States Bowling Congress Convention will not be held in conjunction with the USBC Open Championships in Corpus Christi, Tex.; instead, it will be held in Orlando, Fla., in April.

Due to the upcoming merger, there will not be a Council of Delegates Meeting in February; in its place will be a meeting to vote on the new local association, and league bowlers are encouraged to attend this meeting to determine the direction the new association will take. Your participation is essential to the continued successful operation of the association.

In closing, I would like to wish all the bowlers and their families a very Merry Christmas and a happy holiday season.
