PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE / Bill Grover

December 2004 / January 2005

Where did the time go?

Well, now it’s December. The bowling season is about half over, and it’s time to get ready for the holidays. Time really flies this time of year. Do you have everything you need for the holidays? Are you ready for Santa? Have you been good this year?

League Presidents: Have you verified your bank statements each month?

Vice Presidents: Have you gotten your prize funds passed?

Secretaries: Have you submitted all of your award applications?

Your bowlers placed their trust in you when they elected you to office. Please do your jobs and keep their trust. Remember, Santa knows if you’ve been bad or good....

As noted elsewhere, over $5,000 in pledges and donations was collected at the annual BVL Kickoff last month. The holidays are usually a time for giving. Please be generous when your lane director goes through your league seeking donations for the BVL. Special thanks go to Fort Belvoir for hosting this event.

On Nov. 10, Tom Dale Jr. and Ray Webb represented our association at the BVL check presentation ceremony to Secretary of Veterans Affairs Anthony J. Principi. Tom also carried a flag during the Veterans Day ceremony at Arlington National Cemetery.

When we ring in the new year, we will welcome the birth of the United States Bowling Congress (USBC). The WDCAWBA voted to merge with the NCABA at its Semiannual Meeting on Nov. 13. Representatives from both associations attended a USBC Transition Workshop in Richmond on Nov. 20. We hope the information we learned at the workshop will help in making our transition to USBC a smooth one. Our Single Membership Organization (SMO) committee will soon meet with the ladies to begin planning the details for the merger. I will continue to keep you updated on the merger process in future editions of BOWL Magazine.

Have a safe and happy holiday season.
