PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE / Bill Grover

September 2004

The times, they are a’changing

It seems like winter leagues have just ended, and here it is time to kickoff the new bowling season again. Where did the summer go?

I’d like to begin by congratulating Ronald McGregor for his fine leadership over the past year. In addition to serving as president, Ronald provided assistance to the office staff by helping to keep the computers up to date and assisting in the move to new office space in Largo.

We are also pleased to announce that Ray Brothers, Ray Webb, and Ralph Hayward have agreed to re-up for another year. Their experience will prove crucial in guiding us through the steps necessary to become part of the United States Bowling Congress.

The upcoming bowling year will include many changes to the sport of bowling as we have known it for years, including the merger of the ABC, WIBC, YABA, and USA Bowling that takes effect January 1, 2005. Our association soon will begin a series of meetings with the Washington, D.C. Area Women’s Bowling Association that hopefully will culminate in a merger. We would also like to welcome Village Lanes in Leesburg to our association.

I encourage all of our bowlers to become active participants in bowling this year. Attend your league organizational meeting. Come to the NCABA/WDCAWBA Hall of Fame Dinner on October 9 when Glenn A. Callaway, Anthony Chapman, Kendra Gaines, Steve Graves, and Vince Jozwiak are inducted. Attend the annual NCABA Council of Delegates Meeting on February 27, 2005.

The times are indeed changing. Be a part of that change.
