PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE / Ronald McGregor

February / March 2004

Will your league be represented
at Council of Delegates Meeting?

The 60th annual Nation’s Capital Area Bowling Association Council of Delegates Meeting will be held Sunday, February 29 at the Holiday Inn Eisenhower Metro Center in Alexandria. This meeting affords every league the opportunity to voice its opinion on issues undertaken by the NCABA board. The league delegates to this meeting will elect officers to the association board, including a new fifth vice president.

Do you know who is representing your league at the NCABA annual meeting? All sanctioned leagues have a delegate. Ask your league secretary who that person is and let him or her know what you think. Then make sure that your representative attends the meeting.

Every year, an overwhelming majority of the league representatives fail to attend this meeting. There are always lots of excuses given regarding why they did not make it, but the bottom line is that your voice does not get heard when that person does not take his responsibility seriously enough to show up. Besides, lunch is provided.

This meeting also offers an opportunity to provide guidance to NCABA board members who will vote on legislative matters at the American Bowling Congress Convention in Reno, Nev., on March 19. A summary of all amendments to be presented to the ABC delegates is presented here, and a link to the complete amendments appears here.

Elsewhere on this page, you will find information on the United States Bowling Congress (USBC), the single membership organization (SMO) to be formed under the proposed Plan of Merger. Information may also be found on the ABC Web site at bowl.com.

The 59th annual NCABA Championship Tournament will take place April 3-4, 17-18, 24-25, and May 1-2 at AMF Dale City (team event) and AMF Alexandria (singles and doubles). Entries close March 15, so let’s get those entries in and support the event.
