I hope everyone had a joyful and prosperous holiday season.
We’re seeing a reduction in calls to the association office regarding rules violations. I hope this a result of bowlers seeking out their lane representatives and solving the issues at the lowest level or that violations have been reduced. Whichever the case, we hope the trend continues.
I’ll take a few minutes to update you on some of the association’s coming events. On Sunday, February 16, 2020, we will hold our 14th Annual Membership Meeting at our local association building located at 9315 Largo Dr. West in Largo, Md. You will need your membership card or proof of membership to attend the meeting.
At this meeting, we hold an election of officers and directors to serve on your local board. To be eligible to run for a position on the board, you must submit a candidate form that is available on our Web site at ncausbca.org. Since the December 31 deadline to have your name included on the ballot has passed, you may still submit your form to the association office at least 72 hours prior to the Annual Memberhip Meeting to be eligible to run from the floor.
Delegates are selected to attend the Virginia State and USBC conventions at this meeting. This is also where rule changes to the local and USBC are discussed and voted on.
The association will host our 75th Annual Women’s Championship Tournament on the weekends of March 7-8 & 14-15 at Bowl America Shirley. For those of you who want to bowl and don’t have a sponsor, you can contact your lane representative and submit your entry to him/her, mail it to our Largo office, or eMail it to womens.tourney@gmail.com and mail in the entry fees. The cost is $28 per event.
The 75th Annual Open Tournament will be held March 21-22, 28-29, and April 4-5 at Bowl America Burke (Team) and Bowl America Fairfax (Singles & Doubles). Again, you can submit your entry to your lane representative, mail it to our Largo office, or eMail it and mail the payment. The cost to bowl is $28 per event.
