PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE / Willie H. Graves Jr.

November / December 2017

It’s time to get involved with BVL

Hello, association members. BVL — The Bowlers to Veterans Link — is celebrating its 75th Anniversary of supporting veterans and active duty service men and women. Founded in 1942, BVL is the sport of bowling’s oldest charity. Its grants provide arts and crafts programs, music, sports activities, reading materials, and board games to booster spirits to speed up recuperations and overall morale. BVL supports tours for entertaining troupes at VA Hospitals and State Veterans Homes throughout the U.S. BVL also responds to veterans in need, including veterans suffering from PTSD (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder) as well as aging veterans, providing them with outlets for joy, freedom, and friendships that recreation and sports activities can bring.

Your association is fully committed in supporting BVL. During the next four to six months, your lane representatives will ask each of you to support our veterans through BVL. We would like to be the leading association in the country for supporting BVL during this 75th Anniversary. This can be accomplished by our members donating generously to this worthwhile charity when your lane representatives come around in your leagues and by entering the upcoming NCAUSBCA Mixed Tournament in Support of BVL, which will be held December 9-10, 2017 at Bowl America Shirley.

You should be watchful for additional information on this event and all upcoming events on the association’s Web site.

Your association’s board of directors currently has a few vacant positions. If you would like to provide a voice to the board and serve your fellow bowlers, I ask that you submit an application to the association office. The application can be found here.

If you should have any questions, please feel free to contact me. It is my wish that each of you will have a great bowling season and blessed Thanksgiving.
