PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE / Gene O. Mays

December 2013

Correct procedures must be followed
at all times

Now that we are well into our new bowling season, it is very important that we dot all our “i’s” and cross all our “t’s”: We should make sure that correct procedures are followed at all times.

I have visited several leagues, and there are still some questions about rule and policy changes. For example, some bowlers do not understand that their summer league dues are no longer carried over into the fall league season. I advise anyone with questions on this or any other matters to contact your lane director or the association office.

Meanwhile, league officers should make sure that all bowlers are in good standing membership-wise if they are not affiliated with this association. Bowlers certified this season in the Baltimore area, for example, need to hand the league secretary a completed membership application and $11 ($10 local and $1 Va. State dues), whereas certified Fredericksburg-area bowlers (who already have paid Va. State dues) need only pay $10 in any NCAUSBCA-area league.

The secretary should make sure the league application, membership cards, and appropriate fees are submitted within the first 30 days of the first league session, as this can affect the processing of awards as well as bonding. Presidents should have their Audit Committee in place as specified in Rule 102c(5).

With all systems ready to go, LET’S BOWL!
