March starts the local association championship tournament season. The Youth Championship Tournament will occur at Bowl America Chantilly, the Women’s Championship Tournament will take place at Bowl America Burke, and the Open Championship Tournament will be held at Bowl America Shirley (team) and Bowl America Woodbridge (singles & doubles).
Recently a member called about a league problem, and it appears he got an answer he didn’t like, so he called USBC Headquarters and got a different answer. Now I don’t know if the same circumstances were conveyed to both local and national associations, but if you are going to shop for the answer you want, just drop this association’s office from the shopping center.
For those who are wondering, Punxsutawney Phil did see his shadow at 6:45 a.m. on February 2 when he poked his head out of his burrow on Gobbler’s Knob. It means that winter will last another six weeks. I don’t know if the shadow scared him or if it was the thousands of people who were there to watch.
