MANAGER’S MEMO / Ray Brothers

Summer 2010

League organizational meetings
are the time to speak your mind

The Championship Tournaments have been completed, and as the famous saying goes, The checks are in the mail. The complete lists of winners are listed on this site.

Participation in this year’s tournaments was down. Next year, we will conduct the Women’s Championship Tournament and the Open Championship Tournament in the same centers during the same time period to see if we can entice more members to enter the tournaments. We are open to any suggestions that will help us increase the size of the tournaments.

The winter season has concluded, and we are frantically entering the final averages into the database. A little reminder, please, to all secretaries who have not submitted your final averages: You are late and in violation of USBC Rule 102e and could face suspension of your bowling privilege.

Time flies and it won’t be long before your league organizational meeting will be held. The league rules are adopted at these meetings, and you should have input if something happened last season you didn’t think was kosher.

At the 2010 USBC Convention, an amendment passed that allows summer league averages to be treated the same as winter league averages in tournaments, so it is important that summer league secretaries submit the averages at the end of the league’s competition.

If you have any rules questions, contact me; I also will answer them in my column so that everyone will benefit from your inquiry.
