MANAGER’S MEMO / Ray Brothers

November 2009

Let’s remember our veterans
during the holiday season

This is the time of the year when we should be thinking of the veterans who have fought for our country. Many are in hospitals and retirement homes. Starting this month, all of the association’s officers and directors will visit the leagues in all the centers and solicit money to buy athletic equipment and more to help these veterans cope with their situations better. So when the lane directors visit your league, please give generously.

All winter leagues are now started and running smoothly—or are they? I get calls every day about problems happening in leagues that should have been addressed at the organizational meeting. Most problems arise because all members don’t find time to attend the meeting. Once the league rules are in force, they cannot be changed without the written consent of all team captains.

Awards are coming in the office at record numbers, especially the honor awards. We cannot process some of them because some vital information is left off the form. This causes a delay in getting the award to the bowler, so please fill the form out completely. It is the responsibility of the secretary to see that the forms are completed properly. I think that most times the secretary is in such a hurry that he/she takes shortcuts.

November is the month of the best holiday there is for eating, Thanksgiving. So when you are stuffing yourself with turkey, stuffing, sweet potatoes, pumpkin pie, and all the other goodies, and watching football games, please remember all those Americans in foreign lands who can’t be with their families and also those who are not as fortunate as you. Have a happy holiday. E-mail Ray Brothers
