What some secretaries don’t do isn’t funny

The fall leagues have started, and all league secretaries have sent their league application to our office within the 30-day limit. These same secretaries are going to submit award requests within the 20-day limit and submit the final averages by June 1, 2008.

I thought that I would start the new season with a little humor. Every year, we receive league applications in February for leagues that started in August. We receive award requests at the end of the league, and we have to beg for final averages.

In a lot of cases, we never get the final averages from the secretary, and we have to call the bowling center for them. Starting next season, I will recommend suspension for those secretaries who fail send in the final averages for their leagues. The members of the leagues elect secretaries and expect them to do what they are being paid to do.

Our technology committee is working on ways that will allow secretaries to request awards and submit final averages via E-mail. To this end, it is important that we receive the E-mail addresses of all secretaries who have one. It will enable us to communicate directly with you and keep you up to date on all new programs.

On a related matter, we are upgrading some of our computer equipment so that we can better serve the bowlers. Some of our PCs are slowly wearing out. We have had them for several years, and our server also needs updating.

If you have rules that you wish to have discussed, contact me, and we will discuss them in this column so that all can benefit.

Thought of the month: The reason a dog has so many friends is that it wags its tail instead of its tongue.
