MANAGER’S MEMO / Ray Brothers

Summer 2007

Bowlers must ask questions
about their league secretary

Summer leagues are now under way. In the office, we finished processing the award requests for winter leagues and currently are entering averages into the system so we can compile the Annual Average Book. Thank all of you secretaries who sent in your final averages without us having to beg and threaten you to submit them.

Some secretaries only recently submitted their requests for awards, and some will tell their league members that the office was behind in filling requests. Even though they waited all this time to request awards, they will be reelected for next season and will do the same all over again. When you are voting for the secretary of your league, ask if he/she did things on time.

On June 10, Bowl America Inc., hosted a Youth of the Year Tournament for its youth league bowlers and a Star of the Year Tournament for its adult league bowlers. It was a way to thank the bowlers for their support during the season. This is a corporation that appreciates its customers.

I would like to thank the office staff for all the help they have given me for the past year—my assistant, Ron McGregor; our treasurer, Ralph Hayward; BOWL Magazine editor Bob Cosgrove; Jackie Dunn; Tena Boone; Sharon Brown; and Sarah Richardson. These individuals work very hard for you, the bowler, and deserve all sorts of kudos.

I hope you have a great summer vacation. Work on you game when you get a chance, and come back ready to bowl in the fall.
