BVL Kickoff:
A fun time for a good cause

Members of the NCABA and the WDCAWBA boards, along with residents of the U.S. Soldiers Home, participated at the Fort Belvoir Bowling Center on November 3 to kick off BVL month and our annual BVL campaign. All those present thoroughly enjoyed themselves. Billy Szamborski, manager of the center, and his staff provided lunch and refreshments to all the participants.

Director Ron Holton again underestimated the ability of two of the ladies from the WDCAWBA board or perhaps overestimated his own abilities: He was beaten this year by Roz King and Cheryl McGraw. As Ron matures—maybe—he will understand that he should not challenge ladies when money is involved. (Seriously, if we had more folks like Ron, we could really collect a lot of money for the BVL charity.)

The processing of the sanction cards is running a little behind this year; it should be completed within the next two to three weeks. Sanction cards are being mailed directly to the bowler again this year, so watch your mailbox.

The 57th annual NCABA Championship Tournament will be held at Bowl America Burke (team event) and Bowl America Falls Church (singles and doubles events) during the four weekends in April 2002. Entry blanks will appear in the bowling centers during the holidays; pick one up and enter your team in the tournament. If we get 500 teams, a $5,000 prize will be guaranteed for first place in the team event.

This is the time of year that almost everyone is shopping for that right gift. Check out our advertisers for some ideas of gifts to buy for the bowlers on your list.

The entire office staff would like to take this opportunity to wish you and yours a very Merry Christmas and a happy and prosperous New Year.
