EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR’S MEMO / Ray Brothers

New beginning at NCABA office

A new season is getting underway, and there is also a new beginning in the NCABA office. As some of you know, Larry “Bud” Smith decided not to accept another term as assistant executive director, and he and his wife look forward to retiring, possibly in North Carolina. Alton “Ray” Webb has replaced him and brings new ideas to the operation of the office. Jackie Dunn, who has been around for a long time, currently contemplates leaving at the end of the year. If you are interested in working in the office, please contact us.

In recent months, tournament directors have disqualified several area bowlers. There are several reasons why this happens. Let me remind all bowlers who plan to bowl in a tournament to be sure to familiarize yourselves with the tournament's rules as well as the ABC/WIBC tournament rules that appear in the ABC/WIBC Playing Rules booklet. It is a real blow to bowl well, only to find out later that you violated a rule and aren’t going to receive the cash you expected.

All leagues that bowled last year will receive preprinted sanction application cards that have a bar code printed on them. We recently purchased bar code readers to get the sanctioning done more efficiently. Remember that the first sanctions received will be the first ones processed.

Again this year, ABC sanction cards will be mailed directly to the bowler’s home from Bowling Headquarters in Greendale, Wis., so please make sure all information you provide on the sanction application card is correct and legible.

If you have any ideas how we may help you and your league or if you have questions, please contact the office. Your concerns are important to us.
