The AGAPE Mixed Singles league members salute Kim Mason for capturing first place in the singles division of the WDCAWBA 56th annual Women's City Tournament. Kim bowled a 688 scratch series with a 180 handicap for a grand total of 868, which shows that bowling in a short season league can pay off.
Cornell Jackson and Dee Poindexter formed AGAPE, which is a Greek word that means the "God-kind of Love," during the 1996-97 bowling season to meet the needs of those who could no longer participate in a traditional 30- or 35-week league schedule.
Starting the first Thursday in September at Andrews AFB, the AGAPE 30-member league bowls every other Thursday until the first Thursday in December. The schedule resumes the first Thursday in January for eight straight weeks to complete a 15-week schedule.

Last year, four teams from AGAPE entered the City Tournament, and they plan to reenter this year.

Don't forget nominations are being excepted for the "League Secretary of the Year." This award was established to recognize league secretaries who have, in the preceding year, provided exceptional service to WDCAWBA members. Nominations must be submitted by February 15, 2002. The announcement and presentation will be made at the annual meeting in April.
