October 4, 1996: At the Market Square Arena in Indianpolis, Dave Husted becomes the first player in PBA history to capture consecutive U.S. Open titles. Meanwhile, Liz Johnson wins the women's U.S. Open championship. It is the first time men and women compete in separate competitions in the same venue at the same time.


October 4, 1995: John Hricsina tops top seed Avery LeBlanc, 255-249, in the championship match of the Palm Beach (Fla.) Senior Classic.
