August 31, 1988: Top seed Teata Semiz wins his fourth PBA senior title with a 268-166 victory over Billy Walden in the finals of the Columbia 300 Senior Open in San Antonio, Texas.


August 31, 1982: Larry Miller captures the second annual PBA Seniors Championship in Canton, Ohio by defeating defending champion Bill Beach, 206-197, in the title contest.


August 31, 1970: Jim Stefanich scores only a 7-8-1 match play record, but he nonetheless emerges with a 119-pin margin of victory at the 40-game Gansett PBA Open in Cranston, Rhode Island. Butch Gearhart places second in the event.
