August 12, 1995: Denny Torgerson wins the Showboat Senior Invitational in Las Vegas when he defeats top seed Gene Stus, 229-226, in the title match.


August 12, 1993: Walter Ray Williams Jr. captures his sixth PBA title of the year and 12th career victory with a 263-183 conquest of Bob Learn in the championship contest of the Greater Grand Rapids (Mich.) Open.


August 12, 1987: Harry Sullins takes home the trophy at the Molson Golden Bowling Challenge in Windsor, Ontario, Canada with a crushing 243-159 win over Jimmy Keeth. The victory is Sullins' second PBA title.


August 12, 1980: Guppy Troup stops leader Earl Anthony's bid for a fourth Waukegan (Ill.) title with a 245-222 win in the deciding match of the Waukegan Super Touch Open.
