July 26, 1997: Liz Johnson wins the Sam's Town LPBT Music City Country Classic in Henderson, Tenn., by defeating Dede Davidson, 235-191.


July 26, 1996: Aleta Sill totals 703 for three games, including a 257-207 victory over top seed Tammy Turner, to capture the Sam's Town LPBT Greater Charleston Open in Goose Creek, S.C.


July 26, 1994: Steve Hoskins wins his second PBA title of the year when he defeats top seed Walter Ray Williams Jr., 207-195, at the Tucson Open. This is the fifth time Williams has finished second this year and the 22nd time in his career.


July 26, 1989: Joe Salvemini puts away top seed Dave Ferraro, 248-216, to take home the title at the Columbia 300 Open. It was Salvemini's third PBA title and his first in six years.


July 26, 1983: Gil Sliker and Mike Durbin team up to win the Showboat PBA Doubles Classic in Las Vegas with a 215-205 victory over Gary Skidmore and Casey Berry.


July 26, 1970: Nelson Burton Jr. wins his fourth PBA title of the year at the Fort Worth (Texas) Open. His margin of victory is 141 pins over runner-up Jim Stefanich.
