July 17, 1997: Aleta Sill defeats Carol Gianotti-Block, 221-179, to win the $25,00 top prize at the Sam's Town LPBT AMF Gold Cup in Richmond, Va.


July 17, 1997: Earl Anthony wins his second senior title of the year by defeating close friend Gary Mage, 235-223, in the championship match of the Showboat Tri-Cities PBA Senior Open in Richland, Washington. Anthony earlier topped John Hricsina (280-238) and Larry Laub (256-195) to earn the right to face Mage.


July 17, 1993: Bob Benoit captures his fourth PBA championship when he downs top seed Robert Lawrence, 216-191, in the title match of the El Paso (Texas) Open.


July 17, 1992: John Handegard finished second the two previous weeks, but he ends up on top at the Rocky Mountain PBA Senior Classic in Denver by conquering top seed Gene Stus, 251-201, in the deciding contest. Handegard's sixth career senior title ties third-place finisher Teata Semiz for the most wins on the Senior Tour.


July 17, 1985: David Ozio bests four opponents, including top seed Mike Durbin, 198-153, to win the PBA Tucson (Arizona) Open. Ozio had a score to settle: In 1982, Durbin defeated him for the Tucson title.
