July 16, 1986: Top seed Steve Cook stops rookie Rod Pasteur, 189-180, in the title match of the PBA Austin (Texas) Open. The tournament victory is Cook's fourth of the year and 12th overall. Pasteur downed Wayne Webb (208-190), Kent Wagner (201-195), and John Gant (268-246) to earn his title shot.


July 16, 1974: Bob Hood upsets tournament leader Jim Godman, 245-203, in the championship match of the Home Box Office Open in Tucson, Arizona. Fifth seed and future PBA Hall of Famer Marshall Holman loses to Curt Schmidt in the opening contest, 192-149.
