July 15, 1993: In a high-scoring championship match, Richard Beattie bests Teata Semiz, 258-237, at the Jackson (Mich.) PBA Senior Open. Semiz fought his way to the final contest by earlier defeating Lon Marshall (230-189), Dick Baker (245-195), and Tommy Evans (279-257).


July 15, 1987: Kent Wagner wins his second career title—and second of 1987—when he comes through with three strikes in the final frame to stop top seed Philip Ringener, 249-248, in the Austin (Texas) Open.


July 15, 1980: Steve Martin captures his second PBA title of the year at the Southern California Open in Torrence when Jim Winklepleck, needing a 10th-frame strike to win, leaves the 2-4-5 combination.
