The 2003 Brunswick Senior World Open is almost here, and like the 2002 event, the best players age 50 or better in the world are entered at the Orleans Bowling Center in Las Vegas for the November 15-20 event.
The quality of the field is incomparable, and includes defending champion Bob Glass, the legendary Dick Weber, Mark Roth, Johnny Petraglia, Dave Davis and many more champions and stars of senior bowling. Weber, Roth, Petraglia, and Davis will square off in a special skins game sponsored by the Kegel’s Million Team Tournament during the pro-am on Friday November 15, and the official event gets underway Sunday at 9:00 a.m.
For senior players who have not yet entered this prestigious event, it’s not too late. A few spots are still open and entries will be accepted until 5 p.m. (PST) or when the 280th entry is paid. Entry forms are available at the center, or on the Web site seniorworldopen.com. The entry fee is $500, of which 100 percent will be returned in prize money plus over $30,000 from Brunswick and the other event sponsors.
New in this year’s event is separate qualifying round divisions for players age 50-59 and 60+. Each division winner is guaranteed to win $10,000 and a chance to win an additional $10,000 in the top four stepladder finals.
Also new this year is a Second Chance Tournament for all bowlers who do not advance past Round 2 of match play. The division winners of the Second Chance will be seeded third and fourth in the stepladder finals and could win the $20,000 top prize. Each is guaranteed a minimum of $5,000. One of every four bowlers will make the match play in this event and cash for a minimum of $1,000. The top 10 non-cashing amateurs will also win $500.
All BSWO bowlers who stay a minimum of four nights at the Orleans Hotel during the event will get two free nights. They will also be extended special event rates for their paid nights. Reservations must be booked directly through the Orleans (1-800/675-3267) to get the free nights.
